On January 16, 2020, Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) announced revisions to Japan’s maximum residue levels for seven agricultural chemicals (Aldrin/Dieldrin, Isofetamid, Ipflufenoquin, 1,3-Dichloropropene, Dazomet, and Metam/Methyl isothiocyanate), and a pesticide/veterinary drug (Carbaryl). MHLW also revised the analytical method for two veterinary chemicals, Betamethasone and Dexamethasone, in food. Interested U.S. parties are encouraged to submit their comments to PlantDivision@usda.gov by January 26, 2020. MHLW will subsequently notify these revisions to the World Trade Organization, which will provide another opportunity for comment.
